One of the Few or the one and only thing ; Cricket

If there’s one thing in this tiny little island which make suffering people of this country party, then that would be cricket. And there’s few others like Arakku, Kiribath and other food etc. However, and but cricket tops the list. Cricket in our country also has unforgettable memories such as price hikes during matches and air attack that happened on the night of 2007 World Cup Final.

Sri Lanka is now grappling economy. There aren’t enough foreign reserves to buy food and medicine. Law makers say we don’t have adequate, but we don’t know whether we have anything at all. Printing money has become likes of Wanidu taking wickets at his will.

People are queuing for food, fuel, gas, and many more likes of our top and middle orders collapse.

Over the last seven plus decades we didn’t solve our root causes. We didn’t have proper plans. We didn’t have vision.

After the independence Sri Lanka was known to be a role model country people thought Sri Lanka had potential.

Meanwhile Sri Lanka also showed some talents.

This was like the First T20. We were one down for 100 or something. Then collapsed for 25+ runs.

Our country always managed to get out from troubles like Charith Asalanka playing in the middle order.

Sometimes we managed something like Gune, Mendis and Rajakasa hitting sixes occasionally. Not that Rajapaksa’s who hit sixes on public.

We sometimes had good starts like Pathum does.

However, we managed 70 plus years.

Now we are in the brink of collapse.

But the youngsters in the country no we can’t live like this. And some elders understood that we need to fight back, protect, and support the young blood.

This was like second T20.

Where Sri Lanka fought back.

They kept fighting but had setbacks.

Like the second match we lost early wickets, then fought back.

Then collapsed and then again fought back.

Yet we lost.

And in that we came to the Third match.

They were on top and hitting at will. Then again, we fought back. And then in Final over they hammered us always.

We kind of got a good start. And then as always somehow like whatever people in this country Charith Asalanka managed to inspire us.

And then like sleeping Sri Lankans Rajapaksa hit a massive six.  And then gone.

Like Chamika few were always fighting and asking others to fight back.

Then like Aragalaya skippa start hitting sixes.

Rest is history.

Hope that mighty Sri Lankans will hit like skippa Dasun.
