It is a vital necessity

The universities and education system in Sri Lanka are way behind when they are compared to other countries. Some say we have best A/L and O/L examinations. But the exam oriented education system has caused havoc and catastrophe in this country.

During last 70 years, or the post independent era successive governments have failed to improve the education both in quality and quantity. They were not able built more State Universities. They were failed cater the student population in the country. They were failed supply the university education to the all students who get selected from the A/L examination.

There are severe issues lied with the education system. We need to talk about them separately and one by one.

There was a protest recently by Inter University Student's Federation. There are pros and cons about the federation. Over the years they have done considerable amount of things to protect the right to education and free education which is funded by public money and tax.
After the recent protest hundreds of Facebook memes has been created insulting the convener of Inter University Student's Federation, Lahiru Weerasekara. We need to look back and see what we have done. We are insulting our selves.

We all have multiple questions and allegations about federation's conduct, ideology and many more. Yet insulting the Federation and using memes to produce humor is disrespectful, unethical and obscene.

Yes, it is true that we have questions about IUSF, but create humor using his Lahiru's photos are disgusting.

At last not least I should mention that there should be self discussion and dialogue among themselves, one selves and even open discussion and dialogue about conduct, behavior, violence, academic and education, ragging, quality and quantitative education, national educational policy. It is a vital necessity. IUSF should look into their duties and responsibilities. They need to understand their role and should have more knowledge and awareness about the current context of the world.
