A culture that should be adopted

Sri Lanka a country praised for its history, has now become the subject of corruption, dictatorship and debt. The major parties of Sri Lanka United National Party and Sri Lanka Freedom Party once then ruled the country for post independent 69 years, nearly seven decades. Post Independent Sri Lanka has experienced a thirty year civil war, two major insurgencies. Today the tiny island in the Indian Ocean faces a serious economic crisis which the countries elite politicians don't even have practical and pragmatic framework to resolve the crisis.

Foremost the countries Parliament is full of corrupted politicians who the people of this country have elected. There were huge campaign against previous Mahinda Rajapaksha regime. The corruption has risen to top level in the era of Rajapaksha regime which led to a huge debt crisis. It was the face for his defeat in the Presidential election which was held in 8th January 2015. The election held before his orginal tenure ends. It was said that the decision makers of the previous government has insisted former President Rajapaksha to go for election. That ends there.

This 'Maithri-Ranil' government came into power promising to end corruption. There are positives in this government but many which this government has undertaken are not practical and unacceptable. The unity government which is end of their second year has don't much on development, reforms and economic policy. The government scored some points by  implementation of several acts, commissions. Yet they are not count in the short term,

In the other hand the corruption has continued. This government has started from the point which the previous government has stopped. Today country has come to a critical point. The Central Bank Bond Scam is the biggest crime which this government has executed. Now the government is facing a serious challenge. The government has to take legal action againt the wrong doers.  The actions againt the criminals will decide the future of this government.

The country has a memory of letting criminal politicians to escape from the laws. Somehow that trend should be changed. In that case people of this country has a huge responsible. Every citizen has a role to play. You may be a UNP or SLFP or someother follower, member or supporter of a another party. It though everyone should stand up against corruption, criminal and illgeal activities. Even though it’s the party or member you voted, you should be stand up against them if they proven wrong. That is the culture we should adopt. Unless this country has no future.
